Review of Quantum Of Solace (2008)
With the new James Bond movie coming out this Fall, it had a lot of action movie lovers and movie lovers in general biting at the bit, for a chance to see Quantum of Solace. With so many good James Bond movies from the past, coming off Casino Royale, and Daniel Craig returning as Bond Quantum of Solace was a huge disappointment as a Bond movie. As a general action movie Quantum of Solace was not a bad movie by any means, but as a part of the 007 series this had to be one of the worst ones yet.
Quantum of Solace falls into the category of action movies that I fondly call the "Transporter" category. Yes it is name after The Transporter series, and the title is due to that series being full of great action scenes, car chases, explosions, fight scenes, but the storyline is very weak. And that is the best way to sum of the newest James Bond flick Quantum of Solace. Bond gets in his usual trouble, finds a Bond girl, fights bad guys, drives fast cars and blows stuff up, all things that we fully expect from 007. However this movie loses a lot of its desire from its very poorly developed storyline, which just seems to follow the same predictable path, with no real twist or interesting aspect to it.
The plot stays stagnant from the get-go, Bond is his usual self, Daniel Craig plays Bond very well, and the action scenes are quite good throughout the movie. But the storyline and poorly thought out plot puts a real damper on this movie, and really puts an end to a good long streak of great 007 movies.

I couldnt believe there wasn't any gadgets ... bond is nothing witout "Q" or "R" for that matter.

Yeah, I've been disappointed in the Bond franchise since the last one. They stopped doing gadgets because apparently that's not what the franchise is about. /rollseyes

I agree whole-heartedly with this review. The plot was just blah, but the movie itself had some good action sequences.
I like your "Transporter" category! Nicely done!

the gadgets didn't really bother me much, as this is James Bond and no Batman, for me Bond was played very well again, the action scenes were good, but the poorly planed plot and storyline absolutely killed the flow and the entertainment value of this movie.
