Overall a great game , but didn't live up to the hype.

Still , its a blast to play with friends and has many features like "Theater" that make this a must-buy for any FPS fan.

Ive played Halo ever since the good ol' combat evolved. Its one of my favourite series , but I was slightly dissapointed by all the hype.

The games campaign starts out great. A few epic setpieces give me my fix convoys of warthogs fighting to the death against the invading Covenant. However , after the first few levels , the game becomes less and less team oriented and just becomes the old-school commando levels , which is a shame since the AI doesnt suck as much as it used to. I love it when you have a squad of marines and a couple of UNSC vehicles at your disposal. These scenarios with the squads of marines makes the game seem more like a Call of Duty level with vehicles , and I love my Call of Duty.Spartan Lasers + Marine + Me = BOOOM

However , playing on legendary with my friends , trying to beat certain levels and unlock new armors , is a blast. Plus , the new theater mode records ALL my games , which are viewable from ANY angle ,  so I can show my friends those sick headshots I got , over and over again.

Now for the multiplayer. While the customization isnt that deep ( you can change your armor and colors , but has no gameplay effect) as others games like Call of Duty , it really doesnt matter when you have awesome mathcmaking that easily allows you to play with all your friends , and matchs you up against similarily skilled opponents , allowing you to gradually get better. Plus with the theater mode , you can show all those dirty no scopes you got and upload them to your file share , which is your personal selection of your videos , screenshots , and map variations (using forge) , as well as the possibility of uploading your friends clips too.

Now the Forge. The single best thing in gaming history. You can go on any map that you have and change the spawns of weapons , vehicles , flag points , bomb points , spawn points , and any other thing you can imagine. In maps like foundry , where the playing field is quite hollow , you can literally make your own map , which you can play with others in custom games.

The graphics. Halo isnt an ugly game. It has extremely realistic lighting effects , and everything looks shiny and polished. I would say that it had the nicest graphics for a 2 week period , until other FPS games came out. Halo 3 has some really ugly scenes. Some of the marines look horrible , and the game runs at a low native resolution of 640p. Sure it says 1080p on the back of the game , but thats just upscaled garbage. Call of Duty 4 blowed this game out of the water in the graphics department , and it had quite a lot less hype. Still , the amazing gameplay can make you overlook small things like this.

Overall , its a great game , and the company (Bungie) always has weekly updates , and is still continuing to break out new maps. I personally love the Double-EXP weekends , which have fun variations such as Grifball.
